Discuss "Fever" and work on short stories for next week.
Please post a short comment indicating what you re working on for your first short story. Be sure to indicate
what point of view you are using: 1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person, or multiple perspective. I encourage you to try new things and take risks.
You should have a short story finished for next week's workshops. Use the fiction prompts from the earlier posts if you need some ideas.
So, I'm kind of working on a few things right now.
ReplyDeleteI've gone back to one of my stories that I wrote last year, and I'm doing some editing on that one. That's in the first person.
I also started a story in third person limited but I'm not very far on that one, and another tiny bit of a potential story in the first person again. I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with the new stories though.
So that's what I'm working on...
I am currently writing a short story based on the coma prompt, where my character is in a coma but can understand what is going on the world around her. It is written in the first person and will probably not be 26 pages like my other stories usually end up being.

I'm writing a story about all of us seniors years from now at a party. It's second person and is a bit of a love story. IDK!!! I'm going to keep working on it. Fever was pretty good. Very poetic and fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI've begun a short story that I'm writing in the first person point of view. The primary narrator will be recounting events in flashback form. There will also be a secondary narrator recounting the same events. I would like these events to include some sort of dramatic crime but I'm not sure if I want it to be a murder or not because that can be sort of overdone.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on a story about a person in a coma who is aware of some of their surroundings but only vaguely, and cannot remember names but rather only emotions connected to the people around them. The comatose person (who doesn't have a name, since...well...they don't remember names) is the speaker, so it is in first person. I suppose I could add some elements of other people talking about the person...I haven't decided. it sort of depends on where I end up going with it I guess.
ReplyDeleteI am writing from the coma prompt in first person. I'm considering writing another one, but I can't find my prompt packet so I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently working on two pieces, the main one being a story from a first person perspective, but he's observing a couple having an argument at a bus stop.

ReplyDeleteI’m going to write a short story about improvisation. Two characters who hate each other and can’t communicate with out disagreement are forced to change or cooperate and get along to get out of a place (not sure what the place will be yet) they are stuck in. I usually start writing and see where it goes from there, so I guess we’ll see what happens. I think I have an idea. So hopefully it will work on paper.
I am writing a story based on the prompt ways of seeing. For now it is in the first person but it might end up in the second person.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a story about a drug dealer with a weird oatmeal obsession that gets in an argument with his partner.
ReplyDeleteI am writing a story based on one of the more unfortunate characters in my novel. In the novel, he shows up as a tortured shell of who he used to be, and i figure i can flesh out his backstory and when he was tortured. First person to give it more of a personal connection.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a conversation between two people (a man and a woman, naturally), all told without dialogue. The "body language" prompt. I'm telling it from the thrid person.
ReplyDeleteAs of right now I'm working on two projects. One is a third person limited science fiction story with Lohouse that wont be done until...
ReplyDeleteThe second is the one for the assignment which I'm playing with a more down to earth feel. Prompts are aside, though i may take elements from a few of them when I'm lost. I'm currently working with a first person view, however i seem to be having trouble keeping it up as my stories are usually third person. I'll make it work, don't worry about it.
I am working on a short story and I think I'm going to have it in first person (though second could be interesting as well). The character will be in an insane asylum and possibly recalling what drove them to insanity.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a first-person story told from the perspective of a reluctant father who secretly hates his daughter. Not entirely sure where this idea came from...
